VCA Technology

VCA Technology Ltd is a relative newcomer to the video analytics market having been established in February 2007. However, key members of the company’s management and technical team have over 15 years of analytics experience gained at PI Vision Ltd, a predecessor company. 

Building on previous experience, we have written a brand new analytics suite combining tried and tested techniques together with novel new algorithms. The biggest difference today is the affordability of analytics solutions which can run on a DSP board that is about half the size of a business card and yet takes less than 25% of the CPU resource.

Early History

Geoff Thiel the founder of VCA Technology was also one of the founders of PI Vision Ltd, which was well ahead of its time in terms of video analytics development. Products included VideoTracker, a very popular and easy to use outdoor VMD, which could be used without any set-up. VideoTracker was also used for PTZ camera steering so that video close-ups could be obtained automatically in large outdoor areas. Many other projects were successfully completed including: wrong-way detection, stationary intruder detection and abandoned vehicle detection. Much of this early work is summarised in the following article which was reproduced in IEEE Aerospace and Systems Magazine.
